 How We Accomplish Better Results

Built as a Complete System — Not Just Assembled Parts

Every McKenzie home is designed to manage water, air, vapor, and heat together—protecting your home and the people inside it.

  • Four horizontal wavy lines representing water or waves.

    Water

Manages water before it becomes a problem. Allows moisture to drain and dry properly—helping prevent mold, rot, and long-term damage.

  • Five blue wavy arrows pointing to the upper right.

    Air

Controls where air enters and exits the home. Reduces drafts and dust while supplying fresh, filtered air for comfort and health.

  • Icon of a cloud with wind lines indicating fast movement.

    Vapor

Adapts to changing seasons and humidity levels. Helps the home dry safely year-round, avoiding hidden moisture and material breakdown.

  • Icon of a thermometer and steaming food on a plate, representing heat or temperature.

    Thermal

Wraps the home in continuous insulation. Keeps temperatures consistent, improves comfort, and reduces energy loss.

Our Process

  • A 3D diagram of an HVAC system with various color-coded lines representing different supply and return lines, including heat pump and ERV components.

    Pre-Construction

Careful planning, modeling, and coordination. Every project begins with design and performance alignment.

  • Construction site with wooden framing and OSB walls for a building, set on a concrete foundation with gravel around it, under a partly cloudy sky.

    Construction

Verified installation, airtight detailing, and precision craftsmanship. We measure quality, not just appearance.

  • Graphic showing a cloud connected to a cityscape background with the text "Integrating with Airthings".

    Post-Construction

Performance testing and homeowner orientation ensure your home delivers comfort, durability, and efficiency.

Meet the Builder

Meet Zac McKenzie

Founded by Zac McKenzie, McKenzie Design Build was created to close the gap between beautiful homes and homes that actually perform. After years in construction, Zac saw too many well-designed homes underperform due to poor building practices—and set out to change that.

Meet the Team

Behind every McKenzie home is a collaborative team of architects, designers, project managers, and craftspeople—all aligned on quality, communication, and long-term performance.
